Wet leaves and moss on the steps are a slip on Halloween night. We wash the walk, the steps and the porch floor before the pumpkins go down, so the display sits on clean concrete.

Straw and boards keep the base dry. The covered porch works first, then the top step. Nothing sits where a downspout splashes.
If a pumpkin softens before the 31st, we swap it. You text a photo, we bring a new one on the next route.

No. A carved pumpkin is a five-day pumpkin in Portland weather, and ours is an eight-week porch. Every pumpkin we set is an uncarved heirloom variety, so the display is still standing at Thanksgiving. If you want a jack-o'-lantern for the 31st, carve one of your own the week of Halloween and we style the porch with a spot for it.
That is the whole design. We pick thick-rind heirloom varieties over thin carving pumpkins, keep every one off the wet concrete on straw and boards, put the covered porch to work first, and never carve. Any pumpkin that fails before Halloween is replaced free.
Yes. We hang a commercial C9 strand with color-changing bulbs and a controller once, in late September or early October. It runs orange and purple through Halloween, then you switch it to warm white, red and green, or any Christmas mix with the remote. We take it down in January.
Porch pumpkin installs run Oct 1 to 18 and close as the weeks fill. Two-holiday roofline lights book into mid-October so they are up before Halloween. Christmas-only installs continue into November.
No. We do the porch, the roofline and the walkway: the parts that make a house look cared for from the street. If you want a skeleton on the lawn, it will look better next to a porch that was styled on purpose.
Nothing you have to do. The pumpkins keep going through Thanksgiving, the lights switch to Christmas by remote, and we remove the pumpkins free with any lights booking. Removal on its own is a $75 add-on.
